Tribe Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 15th, 2027
Tribe ("the app", "we") is a mobile app that helps small groups of people
("tribes") commit to recurring real-world meetups and hold each other
accountable. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it
is used, and the choices you have. We aim to collect only what the service
needs to work.
Information we collect
-
Account information. When you sign in with Google or
Apple, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from that
provider. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth; we never see or
store your Google or Apple password.
-
Profile information you provide. Your username, display
name, bio, general location (free text you enter — we do not collect GPS
or device location), and activity interests.
-
Content you create. Tribe group chat messages and direct
messages (including photos you attach to messages), tribe details you
create, meetup RSVPs, meetup check-ins, and applications to join tribes.
-
Usage-derived stats. Check-in streaks, attendance counts,
and reliability scores computed from your RSVPs and check-ins.
-
Push notification token. If you allow notifications, a
device push token so the app can send you meetup reminders and tribe
activity notifications.
-
Safety reports. If you report content or a user, we store
the report (reason, optional details, and what was reported) so we can
review and act on it.
How we use your information
- To operate the service: showing your profile and content to members of
your tribes, matching you with tribes to discover, scheduling meetups,
and tracking attendance and streaks.
- To send notifications you have enabled (meetup reminders, tribe
activity, and messages).
- To keep the community safe: reviewing reports, and enforcing blocks and
content rules.
- We do not sell your personal information, use it for
third-party advertising, or use it to train AI models.
Who can see your information
- Members of tribes you join can see your profile, messages,
RSVPs, and check-ins within those tribes.
- Direct messages are visible only to you and the person you are
messaging.
- If you join or apply to a public tribe, your profile and membership may
be visible to signed-in users browsing that tribe.
- Users you block cannot interact with you; content from users you block
is hidden from you.
Third-party services
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, file
storage, and realtime messaging. Your data is stored on Supabase's
infrastructure. See the
Supabase privacy policy.
- Google / Apple sign-in — used only to authenticate
you. See the Google and
Apple privacy
policies.
- Expo push notifications — delivers notifications to
your device if you enable them.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. Safety reports
are retained as long as needed for moderation. If you delete your account
(see below), your personal information is removed or anonymized promptly.
Account deletion and your rights
You can delete your account at any time in the app under
Profile → Settings → Delete Account. When you do:
- Your profile is permanently anonymized: your name, username, photo,
bio, location, and interests are removed.
- You are removed from all tribes, and your RSVPs, check-ins,
applications, and blocks are deleted.
- Messages you sent to shared tribes remain, but are shown as
authored by "Deleted User" with no identifying information.
Depending on where you live (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA), you may also have
rights to access, correct, or export your data, and to lodge a complaint
with a supervisory authority. Contact us at the address below to exercise
any of these rights.
Children
Tribe is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your
jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you
believe a child is using the app, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and the "last
updated" date above.
